What is Aciphex ?

Rabeprazole Sodium is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) that reduces stomach acid production, primarily used to treat gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, and duodenal ulcers. By inhibiting the H+/K+ ATPase enzyme system at the gastric parietal cell surface, it effectively decreases gastric acidity, thus providing relief from symptoms like heartburn and preventing acid-related damage to the esophagus and stomach lining.

• Use with caution in patients with severe liver impairment
• Increased risk of bone fractures with long-term use
• Hypomagnesemia has been reported rarely in patients treated with long-term proton pump inhibitors
• Patients with a history of hypersensitivity to rabeprazole or substituted benzimidazoles should avoid use
• Use during pregnancy and breastfeeding only if clearly needed
