What is Cimetidine Hcl?
Cimetidine HCl, marketed under the brand name Tagamet among others, is a histamine H2 receptor antagonist that inhibits stomach acid production. It is commonly used in the treatment of peptic ulcers, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), and conditions where reduction of gastric acid secretion is necessary. Cimetidine also has an off-label use in the management of heartburn and acid indigestion.
