What is Nourianz?
Nourianz (istradefylline) is an oral medication used as an adjunctive treatment to levodopa/carbidopa in adults with Parkinson's disease experiencing "off" episodes. It works as an adenosine A2A receptor antagonist, helping to improve motor symptoms without increasing levodopa dosages.Side Effects
- Allergic reaction: Itching or hives, swelling in your face or hands, swelling or tingling in your mouth or throat, chest tightness, trouble breathing
- Compulsive behavior or intense urges you cannot control
- Jerky muscle movement you cannot control (often in your face, tongue, or jaw)
Warnings
- Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or if you have kidney disease, liver disease, or a history of dyskinesia (trouble controlling movements) or mental illness. Tell your doctor if you smoke.
- This medicine may cause the following problems:DyskinesiaUnusual changes in thoughts or behavior, including the urge to gamble or an increased sex drive
- Your doctor will check your progress and the effects of this medicine at regular visits. Keep all appointments.
