What is Gleevec ?

Imatinib Mesylate, marketed under the brand name Gleevec, is a tyrosine kinase inhibitor used primarily to treat certain types of cancer, including chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) and gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs). It works by targeting specific proteins that are involved in the growth and proliferation of cancer cells, thereby inhibiting their progression. By selectively blocking these proteins, Imatinib Mesylate helps to control and reduce the spread of cancer cells in the body.
