What is Kuvan?
Sapropterin Dihydrochloride is a synthetic form of the naturally occurring cofactor tetrahydrobiopterin (BH4) that is used to manage hyperphenylalaninemia (HPA) in patients with phenylketonuria (PKU). By enhancing the activity of the enzyme phenylalanine hydroxylase, it assists in the reduction of elevated phenylalanine levels in the blood, thereby mitigating the neurological risks associated with PKU.
