Ticagrelor is an oral antiplatelet medication primarily used to reduce the risk of thrombotic cardiovascular events in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS) or a history of myocardial infarction. It functions by reversibly inhibiting the P2Y12 receptor on platelets, thereby preventing platelet activation and aggregation.
